It is said that Chernobyl won't be inhabitable until 20,000 or so years from now, but is there a way we could clean up chernobyl and get rid of the radioactive material? Or is it impossible?
Who are you going to get to go in there and clean up the nuclear waste? I don't think there's enough pay to do it. And on top of that, where would you even put the stuff? It's not like you can just move to to another location and call it good. I really don't think it's possible.
No, and why would anyone want to go back there? Yeah sure you may think some of it is cleaned up, but to my understanding, their is radiation all over the place around the exclusion zone, so cleaning it all up may be impossible. Plus when you consider you can't even be near the radiation when you get close, why bother trying? It's probably best to just cover it up with a new dome every 20-40 years.
